Konec roku se odpočátku věků nese ve významu smrti a znovuzrození. Dny se krátí a noci prodlužují – stírá se hranice mezi realitou a skrytým magickým světem. V přírodě, která nás dnes obklopuje čím dál méně probíhá lítý boj světla a tmy, tepla a zimy. Naši předci žili po staletí v kulisách takového věčného boje. Návrat tepla očekávali jako spásný magický úkaz a příchod prvních paprsků slunce dopadajících na zasněžené lány polí oslavovali v posvátné bázni i radosti.

Since the beginning of eons, the end of the year has been tied with the meaning of death and rebirth. The days shorten, the nights are getting longer - the border between reality and a hidden magical world is fading. A dire battle of light and darkness, warmth and cold, is going on in land which surrenders us less and less nowadays. Our ancestors spent centuries in scenery of an eternal fight of such kind. They expected the return of warmth like a magical sight of salvation, and the coming of first beams of light, falling upon the snowy acres of fields, were celebrated in both sacred awe and joy.
Zkusme se i my, dnešní lidé, na chvilku zastavit v nepřeberném kolotoči současné podoby svátků slunovratu a zapřemýšlet nad důležitostí a smyslem našeho bytí a nad naším vztahem k přírodě, které jsme neodmyslitelnou součástí.

Even we, the modern people, could try to stop for a moment on this unstoppable carousel of modern rendition of the holidays and think about the importance and meaning of our being and our relationship to land of which we undoubtedly belong.
